We are looking for a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) with development experience in mySQL or MariaDB to join us in supporting and enhancing our mission-critical database systems to achieve higher levels of performance, availability, backup/recovery, and security. As a member of the team, you will collaborate closely with our Systems Engineers, DevOps, Developers, and Architects to design, implement and scale our database engine. As a Senior Database Administrator (DBA), you'll be the subject matter expert responsible for managing, optimizing, and ensuring the robustness of our MySQL, MariaDB, cloud-native, and cloud-agnostic databases.
Responsibilities:
· Help define the future of and contribute directly to Euronet’s infrastructure
· Ensure high uptime (99.98%) of our platform, performance, and scalability by leading the architecture, deployment, automation, maintenance, and management of mission-critical production systems.
· Design and implement database structures using SQL
· Develop and maintain database queries, stored procedures, and views.
· Optimize database performance through query and index optimization.
· Ensure data accuracy and integrity by implementing appropriate data validation and error handling
· Work with software developers to integrate database functionality into software applications.
· Collaborate with business analysts to understand and document business requirements.
· Develop data migration and data integration strategies.
· Perform database maintenance activities such as backups, restores, and disaster recovery
· Stay current with new database technologies and industry trends
· A thorough understanding of relational database theory and practice
· Analytical thinking and adept at problem-solving
· Strong communication skills
· Provide rotational on-call support where you’ll respond, detect, triage and resolve production incidents
· Meet all Euronet information security best practices to ensure all compliance requirements are met
Requirements:
· Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience or training.
· 5+ years of experience in SQL database development, specifically with mySQL or MariaDB
· Experience with Linux OS
· Proficient in SQL and relational database concepts.
· Familiarity with database design principles and best practices.
· Experience with database administration, maintenance, and performance tuning.
